3 Beautifying Benefits of Cosmetic Acupuncture

Known as facial rejuvenation or non-surgical face-lift, cosmetic acupuncture is an effective, non-surgical treatment to reduce to signs of aging. Based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, very fine needles are placed into acupuncture points on the face. Becoming increasingly popular in New York and Los Angeles, cosmetic acupuncture is being embraced by everyone looking to beautify their skin.

The 3 Big Benefits

Natural Glow: The health of the body is reflected in the skin. Stress, emotions, digestive disturbances can all affect skin’s appearance. As part of your cosmetic acupuncture treatment, body acupuncture is included to correct these issues that impact skin health. Qi or energy is stimulated via the meridian system, which brings blood and oxygen to the face. This process helps to flush out inflammation and invigorate the soft tissues of the face.

Reduce & Prevent Wrinkles: Facial acupuncture stimulates the body’s production of collagen, which has an effect of smoothing and filling lines and wrinkles on the face. Shallow lines can disappear completely and deeper wrinkles can become less noticeable.

Improve Muscle Tone to Lift Skin: The face has 43 muscles and each one is attached to the skin. Needling into the small muscles of the face helps to increase microcirculation, which improves muscular tone. With a tighter muscle underneath the skin, this will have a lifting effect on the skin.

Other benefits include:

  • Decrease under eye bags

  • Firmer jowls

  • Decrease in puffiness

  • Decrease of age spots

What to expect in a treatment?

The initial consultation will cover most areas of health history. Each treatment includes a cleansing and toning of the face and neck. Facial and body acupuncture followed by a refreshing and therapeutic facial massage. Finally, the skin is treated with a jade roller, known to improve lymphatic drainage, decrease puffiness and improving sinus congestion.

Are there any side effects?

Not often. Some clients experience redness and/or slight bruising at the needle site. Your acupuncturist is trained to provide care to minimize these effects.

Clients may expect some improvements after the first treatment (due to muscle tone improvements) but visible results are seen after 6-7 treatments. For this reason, first time clients are encouraged to purchase the 10-treatment package – to ensure adequate treatments are provided. 10 treatments should be done over an 8-10 week period. For maintenance, single cosmetic acupuncture treatments are available for purchase.
